Misean Cara Emergency Meeting - Crisis in the Horn of Africa

Misean Cara hosted a special meeting with Members on the current crisis in the Horn of Africa . A total of nine member organisations were in attendance at the meeting and each contributed some information on what their members were experiencing at present and the major challenges they were facing. At the meeting staff from Misean Cara informed members of funding that is available from Misean Cara under the Emergency Respond Fund. (Funding for up to €15,000 per application).

Members were also advised about the recently updated Sphere Project Guidebook - the Humanitarian Charter and Minimum Standards in Humanitarian Response.The Sphere Project is an initiative to define and uphold the standards by which the global community responds to the plight of people affected by disasters, principally through a set of guidelines that are set out in the Humanitarian Charter and Minimum Standards in Disaster Response. What have been members' experience of using our new funding schemes - the PSS and the MPSS?

In Misean Cara we are keen to hear about what our member's think on a number of subjects that are relevant to us. With regard to our new funding schemes, which were officially launched online last November, we are very keen to hear about our members experiences of using the new format. All comments and suggestions are more than welcome!!!

The Local Livelihoods website has a number of free resources to assist with project planning, monitoring and evaluation, and social auditing. These are available to download at http://www.locallivelihoods.com/Documents/Toolkit%202.1.pdf . Does anyone else have suggestions for resources that you have found useful when planning your work, and that are available to share with other members?
